5 Things I No Longer Eat

As you read this short list of 5 items I no longer incorporate in my diet, keep in mind we are all individuals and each of us should make food choices based on our own needs, preferences, diagnoses, etc.

I’m not here to tell you not to eat any of the things listed, just that I’m enjoying no longer eating them. To each her/his/their own.

5 Things I no longer include in my diet:

Low-calorie ice cream.

Seriously, I gave it far too many chances to outperform (or really just.. perform) in the dessert/treat category and a few years back I finally gave it the boot.

The flavor descriptions (like what it says, not how it tastes) and packaging are fun and catchy but that only keeps me distracted for so long before the frost-bite taste makes me put it down.

Goodbye low-calorie, diet ice cream, we will never meet again.

Protein coffee.

Admittedly I may just be terrible at making this and I’ve never tried it with flavor-less protein powder but I am always disappointed. Here’s my method and you can correct it in the comments:

  • Hot coffee

    • brew coffee, add cream, add protein powder, mix (fork and frother), consume

  • Cold coffee

    • get it from Starbucks, pour into shaker bottle, add protein powder, shake, consume

Either way, it’s always a disappointment for me.

“Skinny” cocktails.

This was one I tried, regretted and swore off of in the same night (no, not for the reason you’re thinking). It was that “Skinny girl” premade margarita in the frosted white bottle and one sip that made my decision.

I’ll go with my dear friend Elsa’s lime/honey/tequila recipe 5ever.

Bun-less burgers.

Also lettuce wraps are included in this category. If I want a salad, I’ll order a salad. But if I have the option it will always be WITH bread.

“Health-if-ied” desserts.

That includes protein cupcakes, cookies, cakes, all of it. This is the only one listed I may eat from time to time… and that time is if there is no other option for dessert and I’m not spending money on it.

And let me tell you, once I stopped eating the “healthy” alternatives that I thought tasted like dirt, I started really enjoying my food and my life more.

Have you given up one of these or something similar? Tell me in the comments!
